Title: Sunridge Resident's Volunteer at the Open Door Mission

Description: Open Door Mission What do you do when you see someone is holding up a sign, "Will Work for Food"? Do you roll down your window and give them money? Do you pretend you didn't see them? After touring the Open Door Mission and presenting them with the proceeds from the fundraiser, Volunteer Coordinator, Chris Morris, told residents of the volunteer opportunities the mission had. Residents seemed surprised and excited that there was so much that they could do to help the Mission. To read more on this article, please see our April newsletter.

Title: Valentines Day 2008

Description: Residents dressed in the colors of pink, red, and white gathered in the dining room the afternoon of February 14th to share this day of love with each other. Garlands of hearts hung above each table and large red hearts donned the windows of the Dining room. Tabletops were covered in pink and red tablecloths and decorated with heart filled placemats. Floating candles in the colors of love glowed in bubble bowls creating the beautiful centerpieces. Holiday treats of chocolate cherry filled cupcakes topped in pink frosting and valentine hearts along with a special “Love Potion” pink punch was enjoyed by residents as the party began. A favorite valentine game of residents was the “Voices of Love” game in which residents had to guess the names of the 12 residents who sang the Valentine songs to them from behind closed doors. This year’s King of Hearts was Lee Wiegent, and the Queen of Hearts was Bea Whitten. They each received gift baskets full of Valentine’s Day goodies and were donned with their rightful crowns as they sat on their thrones. Yes Valentine’s Day was a perfect reason for Sunridge residents to PARTY one more time this winter!

Title: Ringing in the New Year!

Description: New Year, New Fun Our new year was kicked off with a delicious dinner in the dining room. Tables were decorated with festive décor of streamers and balloons. Individual bottles of champagne waited at place settings for residents to enjoy with their holiday meal. Adorned with bright colored, leis, crowns, and top hats, residents put their party poppers and blowers to good use during the evening. The noises rang throughout the halls during the evening’s celebration. As residents raised their champagne glasses, many toasts were made for good health, and happiness. Here is just a few of the many pictures taken that night.
